Westerings Academy

Springwoods has been working on a classroom project at Westerings Academy, Southend-on-sea.  This is an eco-timber teaching facility for Year 6 pupils.

Build process from start to finish was three weeks.

Two week lead time from design and manufacture.

The new timber frame was manufactured by Springwoods offsite to minimise disruption and to accelerate the programme for delivery to our clients.

Marston Green Infant School

Springwoods delivered a timber structure environmentally-friendly classroom for Marston Green Infant School in Birmingham.

The scope of work was for the provision of a low cost, highly sustainable outbuilding on a constrained site to meet the needs of a busy inner-city school. The proposal was to provide a child-safe learning facility and provide much needed additional learning space to the infant academy.

The project relied on a new build structural timber panel system to provide an ecologically friendly and energy-efficient building.

Springwoods erected a 12 x 6 m timber-framed extension to the existing timber-framed building.

It also carried out extensive renovation and adaptations inside the school building creating/renovating:

  • A larger unisex bathroom for the infants, complete with low-level wash trough, soft touch taps and four cubicles.

  • A fully DDA compliant washroom for adults.

  • An office space.

  • Access corridor.

  • New drainage, LED lighting and water saving technologies in the bathrooms.

The project team were able to explore ways to allow the ground works to be accommodated during the school’s holiday period and with temporary works for containment for the construction process during term time.

The end result is a bright, airy and spacious classroom building which is a major benefit for teachers and children. An amazing learning environment.

The new extension exceeds all current environmental and energy conservation objectives.

The Meadows Primary School

Springwoods delivered a major project at The Meadows to build and install two-storey log cabins / temporary classrooms.

The project took place within a live primary school environment so there were a number of obstacles to deal with but with the dedication of the Springwoods team the job ran smoothly.

The log cabins / learning chalets have been installed as temporary classrooms whilst the existing school undergoes major work. They will provide the children with a bright, cheerful learning environment.

A very short lead-in period to design and manufacture a temporary school facility to accept seven classes with associated toilet blocks and admin facilities in a very restricted site.

The buildings were manufactured and delivered in an 8-week period, the buildings were delivered at 50% of the market price of a traditional temporary building.

West Heath Primary School

Springwoods created temporary buildings to accommodate two classrooms due to flooding in existing school. There was also a requirement for a shower and medical room facility, as well as associated toilet block. The project was completed with a short lead-in period and was completed within six weeks of the order being received - during the school holiday period.
